Gode Mutton

Gode Mutton is a traditional, slow-cooked mutton (goat meat) curry originating from the Pathare Prabhu community of Mumbai. It is a staple Sunday lunch dish characterized by its sweet-and-spicy flavor profile, which comes from a unique, homemade spice blend rather than added sugar.

Ingredients

  • ½ kg Mutton
  • 4 Onion finely chopped
  • 4 Potatoes cut into chunk
  • 2 Tomatoes chopped
  • ¼ cup Oil
  • 1 tblspn Ginger paste
  • 1 tblspn Garlic paste
  • 1 tspn Haldi
  • 2 tspn Chilli powder
  • 3 tspn P.P.Shambhar pwd
  • 4 Lavang Dalchini
  • 1 inch 4 velchi

Instructions

  • Heat the oil & add the Lavang, Dalchini and velchi along with the hing,
  • When well-tempered, add the onions and sauté, add tomatoes and sauté again for 5 min.
  • Apply all the dry masala to the mutton along with the ginger garlic paste and keep aside for 20 min.
  • Add all these to the onion mixture, adjust salt, and add 3 cups of water and cover it.
  • Let it cook for abt 30 min till the mutton is well done.
  • Add the potatoes to it and cook again till the potatoes are done
